The defining debate of the next few years is whether the financial internet settles on public, neutral blockspace, or on chains owned and controlled by singular entities. Monad stands for the former, and in this free market, there's room for everyone.

An industry where the operator of the rails decides who transacts, in what order, and under rules that can change at any given time — this is the arrangement crypto was built to fundamentally change.

The alternative is public blockspace: neutral ground that no participant owns and every participant can verify. Not a compromise position for institutions, but the only version they can seriously adopt, because no bank, asset manager, or fintech wants to clear its business on a competitor's infrastructure.

Today, the Monad Foundation announces Open to showcase the strength of that case in public.

What is Open?

Open is the flagship event for the Monad ecosystem. On October 6th, we will bring together financial institutions, protocol engineers, founders, regulators, capital deployers, and researchers around a single question: what does it take for the financial internet to end up open, and what happens if it doesn't?

The event will take place at the Jiak Kim House / Warehouse Complex in Singapore, in advance of Token2049. In the coming weeks, speakers, discussion topics, and the broader agenda for the conference will be announced.

The internet was built to be open. Finance should be too. Come join us to discuss this with the voices that will shape that trajectory.
